We, the congregation of St Anne Episcopal Church, embracing unity not uniformity, respond to God’s call to be Christ’s presence in the world. Through our common life we dedicate ourselves to worship God, serve others, study the faith and proclaim the Gospel.
All Visitors Welcome
We invite all people to attend our services. One doesn’t need to be an Episcopalian or even familiar with the Episcopal Church to visit. Let us share with you the sacred story of Jesus Christ and the hospitality of our community.
Our prayer is that on this occasion of receiving Communion in the Episcopal Church, all visitors may find their lives strengthened in God’s grace and encouraged to love God and serve both neighbors and strangers in the name of Christ.
Children in Worship
In 1991, the congregation voted to use the name “Saint Anne” because of the significant connection she had with two children. She was the earthly grandmother of Jesus and she was the mother of Mary. Anne played a critical part in Mary becoming the mother of our Lord. Anne must have taught Mary to pray, to listen for the voice of God and to risk a “yes” when God called her. We are obliged to be like Saint Anne for the children in our community of faith. Part of our baptismal promise is that we will do all in our power to support the children of our parish to grow into the full stature of Christ.
Saint Anne offers Children Chapel the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month during the 9:00 a.m. and the 11:15 a.m. services. Children ages 3 to 8 years of age are invited to follow the Children’s Chapel crucifer to their service in All Soul’s Chapel at the beginning of the service. They will return at the Peace to participate in the service of Holy Communion with their families.

Stephen Ministry
“Bear one another’s burdens,
Here at St. Anne, we are blessed by the care we give each other, both through prayer and through practical care. At the Litany of Healing each week, St. Anne parishioners pray for all who are “sick, injured or disabled”; for those who are “lonely, anxious, or despondent”; and for those who experience broken relationships or emotional distress. Anyone who experiences these kinds of problems has the prayers of the community. They also have St. Anne Stephen Ministers available to them.
Stephen Ministry is “laying on of ears.” It is simply having a friend who listens and walks with you through any dark time of your life. This person is with you to love you and to let you know that God and your church family care for you. Stephen Ministry is confidential, one-on-one, and distinctively Christian care-giving ministry. If you are experiencing stress or a problem of any kind, please contact ClayOla Gitane at the church office, phone 972-709-0691, or e-mail her at clayola@saintannedesoto.org to request a Stephen Minister. If you know of someone who might need a Stephen Minister, please talk with them about calling us. We would like to help.
and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Gal. 6:2

North Texas Food Bank
Also during April, the outreach committee will again collect money for the North Texas Food Bank. The Small Change for Big Changes collection will be given to the food bank to help offset the escalating expense of gasoline used by their trucks that pick up food donations. Help us fight hunger in our local community by putting your spare change in the gasoline can each week. Last fall, we send $150 to the NTFB for gasoline - $50 of which was raised through the Small Change for Big Changes campaign. NTFB sent us a letter of thanks which can be found on the bulletin board on outside the chapel.

Installation Service
Father Gerry will be installed as the rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in The Woodlands on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 7:00 pm. An invitation has been extended by the wardens of Trinity to all members of St. Anne. They hope that we will join them for this joyous event. We have an opportunity to ride to Houston in Dick Macy’s Diamond Coach. The bus will leave from the church at 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon and return after the event --probably arriving in DeSoto around 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. We can watch movies while traveling, or sing, or just chat (and probably sleep on the way back). The cost is $45 per person which includes a box lunch and beverages. A minimum of 40 people must sign-up to make the trip feasible. If more than 40 people sign-up, then the price will be reduced to $40 per person. There is a total of 54 seats so sign up soon! Sign-up sheets are in the hall outside the chapel. We really need to know by Sunday, June 1, if you want to go. You don’t have to pay for your ticket until we leave. Questions? Contact Father George at 972-325-1094, Dick Macy at 214-683-8516, or Ann Barrick at 972-709-7334.

Sunday May 11th (Pentecost Sunday), will be the next available baptismal date. Classes for parents and available godparents of infants and children precede each baptism date. Please contact Mother Nancy, Father George or the church office if you have any questions. Baptismal forms can be found in the Church Narthex, Parish Hall or Office Foyer “Baptismal Forms” mailbox located in the Ministry Building.
Pastoral Care
There are many ways to describe pastoral care but each of us knows when we need it and whether we received it. The hardest part for the clergy and lay representatives of the church is to know who needs pastoral care, whether it is a home visit or a hospital visit. With the new HIPPA laws regarding medical information, clergy no longer receive information from hospitals telling them if a member of their congregation is in the hospital. So many procedures are done as day surgery by the time we hear that some one is in the hospital they have already left. Some of the ways we provide care is by bringing communion, praying for someone who is to have surgery, or making a home visit to someone who is unable to come to church. We are looking at ways in which parishioners can let us know when they need a pastoral visit or prayers before surgery. But in the interim we are asking that you let us know whether you are going into the hospital or if you know someone else who is going to have surgery or needs a visit from the clergy. If you would like communion or prayers please call the church office so that we may be present with you.
Communications Corner
The Communications Corner is coming to the parish hall the first Sunday of each month. This will be the place where you can get the latest on our leadership search, parish ministries, upcoming parish events, and the work of the vestry. Please come by and strike up a conversation with vestry members and other lay leaders. Create and reap the benefits of a loving community - pose questions and expect answers, share ideas and talents and more. In May, Home Visitation and the Prayer Quilt ministry will be featured. Learn how both extend love and prayer to the sick and home bound. If you have no time for conversation, then just pick up some short articles written for parishioners on the go. Please join us in the Communications Corner, starting May 6th.
Sign Class
There will be a “Sign” Class offered this summer during the Sunday School hour. Start date and details TBA.
